Questions To Ask When Touring A Wedding Venue

by Daniel Herrera

It's incredibly exciting when you get engaged, but once it happens, you have a to-do list that is about a mile long. One of the items on your to-do list includes choosing a wedding venue. As you begin your search for the perfect wedding venue and find ones that you would like to visit, you will need to schedule tours. On these tours, there are some questions that you need to ask to ensure that you are equipped with as much information about each one that you can make an informed final decision.

Are You Available During "X" Time of Year?

While you would assume that a wedding venue was available at all times of the year, some venues are actually seasonal and only hold events like weddings at certain times throughout the year. Some venues may only allow events to be held on certain days of the week. Before you head to the venue, make sure that you have a season in mind, as well as a month and day, for your wedding.

Are You Available to Host the Ceremony and the Reception?

If you are looking to be convenient and save money, you will likely want to hold both the ceremony and reception at a single location. Make sure that there is adequate parking available and that the location is not too far from where your guests will potentially be staying, as guests generally do not like to travel too far.

How Many Guests Can the Venue Comfortably Accommodate?

Before you start touring venues, it is a good idea to have an estimate of how many guests will be attending your wedding ceremony and reception. When you ask this question, if the number is less than how many guests you expect to come for your wedding, ask if it is possible to host a wedding as large as yours and how it could work. If you are having an intimate wedding, find out how they can ensure that your wedding doesn't feel too small for the space. Also, as you consider capacity, keep in mind that not everyone that you invite will make it to the ceremony.

What Options Are Available for Dining and Food?

You need to find out if the venue offers in-house catering or if you will need to bring in your own caterer. After all, food is a huge part of the reception, so you need to find out if it is taken care of in the price of the venue. It is far more convenient if the venue is an all-inclusive one. Also, find out if there is a price difference between a plated meal and a buffet meal.
